The name Yangtze River was derived from the fact that there was a ferry terminal, Yangzijin, between Yangzhou in Jiangsu Province and Dantu and Jingkou in Zhenjiang during this period, and the nearby Yangtze River was first called the Yangtze River or Jingjiang River, and later extended to the entire lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Incidentally, just as the word "river" means the Yellow River, the word "river" can also simply mean the Yangtze River. …
