Wasezawa, Onogawa, Hosono, and Ogozawa were woodworking villages. In 1888, the eruption of Mount Bandai dammed the Nagase River, creating lakes such as Hibara Lake, Onogawa Lake, Akimoto Lake, Sohara Lake, and Goshikinuma Lake.
