〘noun〙① A board used for pressing things. Used to squeeze out water from clothes or food. ※Yougaku Dokushohon (1887)〈Nishimura Tei〉6 "Next, place the pressing board and squeeze out the water."② A floor where a thick board is attached to the top of the tatami mats on which to hang scrolls and arrange the three utensils. Also, this board. In the past, it was used in the tokonoma alcove of a shoin study, and is the predecessor of the modern tokonoma alcove.
