Tang Saiji (English spelling)

Japanese: 唐賽児 - とうさいじ（英語表記）Táng Sài ér

A female leader of a peasant revolt that broke out in Shandong in 1420 (the 18th year of the Yongle era) during the early Ming Dynasty, China. Her birth and death years are unknown. She was the wife of a peasant, Lin San, from Putai County, Shandong Province, but she loved Buddhism from a young age, and after her husband's death, she became a nun and called herself the Mother of Buddha. She obtained a magical book and a sword, and spread her teachings by using techniques such as predicting the future and bringing clothes and wealth at will, so tens of thousands of peasants followed her. When the Ming Dynasty tried to have her arrested, she finally started a revolt centered on Yidu in Shandong in 1420. She was arrested by Anyuan Hou Liusheng and imprisoned, but it is said that her chains naturally came loose and she escaped, and she eventually went missing.

中国，明初の1420年(永楽18)，山東に起こった農民反乱の女性指導者。生没年不明。山東省蒲台県の農民林三の妻であったが，若いころから仏教を好み，夫の死後尼僧となって仏母と称した。妖書宝剣を入手し，未来を予言したり，衣服，財物を意のままにもたらすなどの術をもって教えを広めたので，数万の農民が従った。明朝が彼女を逮捕させようとしたので，1420年ついに山東の益都を中心に反乱を起こした。彼女は安遠侯柳升の討伐をうけ獄につながれたが，鎖が自然にとけ，のがれさったともいわれ，結局行方不明となった。
