Japanese: 賀茂伝説 - かもでんせつ

The origin story of Kamo Shrine, found in a fragment of the Yamashiro no Kuni Fudoki, which is cited in the Shaku Nihongi. Kamo Taketsunomi of Yamashiro had two children, Tamayorihiko and Tamayorihime. When Tamayorihime was playing by the banks of the Semi-no-Ogawa (another name for the Kamo River), a crimson-painted arrow floated down from the upstream. She picked it up and placed it next to her bed, and eventually she became pregnant and gave birth to a boy. As the child grew older, they held a banquet for seven days and seven nights, and Taketsunomi said to the child, "Let the man you consider to be his father drink this sake," so she offered a sake cup to the sky, held a festival, and then broke through the roof and ascended to heaven.

《釈日本紀》所引の《山城国風土記》逸文にみえる賀茂神社の縁起譚。山城の賀茂建角身（かもたけつのみ）命には，玉依日子（たまよりひこ），玉依姫(比売)（たまよりひめ）の2子があった。タマヨリヒメが瀬見（せみ）の小川(賀茂川の異称)のほとりに遊ぶとき丹塗矢（にぬりや）が川上より流れ下り，これを取って床の辺に挿し置くうちについにはらんで男子を産んだ。長ずるに及び7日7夜の宴を張り，タケツノミがこの子に〈汝が父と思はむ人に此の酒を飲ましめよ〉と言ったところ酒杯をささげて天に向かって祭りをなし，屋根を突き破って昇天した。
