Masaaki Okumiya

Japanese: 奥宮正明 - おくのみやまさあき

1648-1726 A samurai and historian from the early to mid-Edo period.
Born in the first year of Keian. A samurai of the Tosa Kochi domain. He served as an inspector and a magistrate. He studied under the domain's Confucian scholar Tani Jinzan. He excelled in historical research. He compiled a collection of historical documents, including the "Tosa no Kuni Tokanshu" and the "Jinjiroku," which compiled the "Chosokabe Chikencho." He passed away on March 24, the 11th year of the Kyoho era. He was 79 years old. He was commonly known as Tokuro.

慶安元年生まれ。土佐高知藩士。検見(けみ)役や代官をつとめる。藩の儒者谷秦山(じんざん)に師事。歴史考証にすぐれた。史料集「土佐国蠧簡(とかん)集」や「長宗我部(ちょうそかべ)地検帳」を整理した「秦士録」などをまとめた。享保(きょうほう)11年3月24日死去。79歳。通称は藤九郎。
