In France, the conflict between the old and new schools was particularly intense in the early modern period, and Bible translation was subject to strong pressure from the authorities, so a classic standard translation like the King James Version in England and the Luther translation in Germany did not develop. However, modern French translations such as the Segond Bible (1880) and the Jerusalem Bible, which is considered to be an accurate and excellent translation, are outstanding, and English and German versions were published in 1966 based on this model.
