...The fibers are used for textiles, ropes, fishing nets, etc. In ancient times, hemp (Taima) was called "O", but the peeled stem is called "Ogara" and is used to light the welcoming and sending off fires during Obon, and is used as chopsticks to accompany offerings. The seeds are called "Onomi", or hemp seeds, and are used as a condiment, and are added to shichimi togarashi (a Japanese chili pepper seasoning).
