Bononia

...It is a strategic point for water, land and air transport, and a distribution center for the rich agricultural products of the Vidin lowlands, such as grapes, grains and olives, and dairy farming and food industries have developed. The town originated as a Thracian settlement, and in Roman times it was a military camp and was known as Bononia. Since the end of the 14th century, it has been under the control of the Ottoman Empire.
