Compsognathus (English spelling)

Japanese: コンプソグナツス(英語表記)Compsognathus
Compsognathus (English spelling)
An extinct reptile belonging to the Theropoda suborder of the Saurischian order. It is the smallest of the small, lightweight carnivorous dinosaurs, the Coelurosauria, and is about the size of a chicken. It has a long neck and tail, was bipedal, and had short forelimbs with two digits. The shape of its entire skeleton is very similar to that of Archaeopteryx, and it has attracted attention as something intermediate between dinosaurs and Archaeopteryx. It was discovered in Jurassic lithographs in Germany, France, and other places, and two types have been reported. [Hasegawa Yoshikazu]
