The first person to be mentioned in the creation of modern agricultural science in the Soviet Union is KA Timiryazev (1843-1920), who is considered on a par with Darwin and who made great achievements in the field of plant physiology. Other agronomists and agricultural chemists include NAMAKSIMOV (1880-1952), known in Japan as a fundamental and theoretical scientist who pioneered plant water physiology, and AI Oparin (1894-1980), known in Japan as a biochemist and the founder of research into the origin of life. VR Williams (1863-1939), who conducted research mainly on soil fertility, monosoil formation, and pasture rotation systems, was also a soil scientist and agronomist.
