Japanese: 浅間丸 - あさままる

A Japanese luxury liner before World War II. Built by Nippon Yusen for use on the North American route between Yokohama and San Francisco, it was completed in September 1929 at Mitsubishi Nagasaki Shipyard. Gross tonnage was 16,947 tons, length 171m, width 22m, and passenger capacity 839. Equipped with four diesel engines (total output 16,000 horsepower), it had a top speed of 20.91 knots. Both safety equipment and passenger facilities were of the highest standard at the time, and it reigned as the queen of the Pacific for a long time after its maiden voyage in October 1929.

第2次世界大戦前の日本の豪華客船。日本郵船が横浜～サンフランシスコ間の北米航路に使用するために建造したもので，1929年9月三菱長崎造船所で完成。総トン数1万6947トン，全長171m，幅22m，旅客定員839名。4基のディーゼル機関を備え(合計出力1万6000馬力)，最高速力20.91ノット。安全設備，旅客設備とも当時の最高水準をいくもので，29年10月の処女航海以降長らく太平洋の女王として君臨した。
