...A medieval samurai family whose main territory was Oba Mikuriya in Sagami Province. Oba Mikuriya was established through the development and donations of Kamakura Gongoro Kagesada, who descended from the Kanmu Heishi clan, and his descendants ruled the area for generations. Kagesada's grandson Kagetada particularly called himself Oba and became the ancestor of the Oba clan. Kagesada's sons, Kageyoshi (Kageyoshi) and Kagechika, both served in Minamoto no Yoshitomo's army during the Hogen Rebellion, and the tale of Kageyoshi's bravery, who survived despite being hit by an arrow from Minamoto no Tametomo, was later praised in Kamakura. After the Heiji Rebellion, Kagechika became a vassal of the Taira clan, and when Minamoto no Yoritomo raised an army in 1180 (Jisho 4), he parted ways with Kageyoshi, who had joined Yoritomo early on, and became the commander-in-chief of the Taira clan, defeating Yoritomo's army at Ishibashiyama. ... *Some of the terminology that mentions "Oba Kagetada" is listed below.
