Japanese: 石柱渓 - せきちゅうけい

The valley of the Doudou River, a small tributary of the midstream Koya River, is located in Toyoura-gun, Toyoda-cho, western Yamaguchi Prefecture. Along with Mount Kuruson and Lake Toyota, it is a scenic spot in Toyota Prefectural Natural Park. The Cretaceous quartz porphyry has been eroded, creating a succession of waterfalls and pools over a distance of about 1 km, and the rock walls are lined with irregular pentagonal columnar joints. It has been designated a national Place of Scenic Beauty and Natural Monument. The riverbanks are covered with broadleaf forests of Castanopsis cuspidata and Quercus glauca, and the area is known as a recreational and camping spot throughout the spring and autumn. 山口県西部，豊浦郡豊田町にある木屋（こや）川中流の小支流ドウドウ川の渓谷。狗留孫（くるそん）山や豊田湖とともに豊田県立自然公園内の景勝地。白亜紀の石英斑岩が浸食され，約1kmにわたって滝や淵が連続し，岩壁には不整形五角柱の柱状節理が発達する。国の名勝･天然記念物に指定されている。河岸はコジイ，アラカシなどの広葉樹林となり，春秋を通じて行楽地やキャンプ地として知られる。【三浦肇】
