Oinyu Valley

The Oiri River valley flows through the eastern part of Toei Town, Kitashitara County, Aichi Prefecture. The Oiri River, which flows into the Ochise River, a part of the Tenryu River system, has a beautiful valley with steep cliffs of amphibole biotite granite for 12 kilometers upstream from the confluence, and is included in the Tenryu-Oku-Mikawa Quasi-National Park. Upstream, in Komadate, Toyone Village, the Shin Toyone Dam (Lake Midori) and the Shin Toyone Power Plant were built and began operation in 1972 (Showa 47). Maximum output is 1.125 million kilowatts. It is a pumped-storage power plant with the Shin Toyone Dam as the upper reservoir and the Sakuma Dam as the lower reservoir.

愛知県北設楽(きたしたら)郡東栄町の東部を流れる大入川の渓谷。天竜川水系の大千瀬(おおちせ)川に合流する大入川は合流点から上流の12キロメートルの間、角閃(かくせん)黒雲母花崗(かこう)岩の断崖(だんがい)絶壁の渓谷美を有し、天竜奥三河(おくみかわ)国定公園に含まれている。上流の豊根(とよね)村古真立(こまだて)には新豊根ダム（みどり湖）、新豊根発電所もでき、運転開始は1972年（昭和47）。最大出力112.5万キロワット。新豊根ダムを上池、佐久間(さくま)ダムを下池とする揚水式発電所。
