Born in 1581. First head of the Onishi family in Kyoto. During the Kanei era, he made tea kettles at the Sanjo Kamanza in Kyoto. His works were in the Ashiya style, characterized by vivid patterns. Some of his works used sketches by Kano Tan'yu. He passed away on October 27, 1590. He was 74 years old. He was from Yamashiro (Kyoto Prefecture). His surname was originally Hirose.
