A village in Yoshiki County in northern Gifu Prefecture. Population 1,229 (1995). The northern part of the village borders Toyama Prefecture at Shirakimine, Koshirakimine, and Karahoriyama, with the Miyagawa River flowing north through the center. The entire area is a mid-mountainous region that is part of the Hida Highlands, and the Takayama Main Line and National Route 360 ​​run along the valley of the Miyagawa River. Located on the prefectural border, the village has had strong cultural and economic ties with Toyama Prefecture since ancient times. With heavy snowfall and a lack of arable land, the area is experiencing severe depopulation, but livestock farming and highland vegetable cultivation are carried out, and rainbow trout farmed in the clear streams are shipped to the Keihin area.

Miyagawa [village]

A village in Taki County, central Mie Prefecture. Population 4,185 (1995). Most of the village area is made up of 1,000m-high mountains that belong to the Daidaka Mountains and the Kii Mountain Range, and the Miyagawa River, which originates from Mt. Odaigahara, cuts a V-shaped valley and flows northeast through the center. Jomon period ruins such as the Oi Ruins and Koutaki Ruins are found on the river terraces of the Miyagawa River. During the Kamakura period, the Ema Mountain here was considered to be the Somayama of Ise Shrine. During the Sengoku period, there were castles belonging to the Mohara and Ogiwara clans, vassals of the Kitabatake clan. During the Edo period, the village was the territory of the Kishu domain.

岐阜県北部,吉城(よしき)郡の村。人口1229(1995)。北部は白木峰,小白木峰,唐堀山を境に富山県と接し,中央を宮川が北流する。全域が飛驒高地に属する中山性の山地で,宮川の谷に沿って高山本線と国道360号線が走る。県境にあって古くから文化的,経済的に富山県とのつながりが深い。多雪地で耕地に乏しく,過疎化が著しいが,畜産や高冷地野菜栽培が行われ,また清流を利用して養殖したニジマスを京浜方面に出荷する。

みやがわ【宮川[村]】

三重県中央部,多気郡の村。人口4185(1995)。村域の大部分は台高山脈と紀伊山地に属する標高1000m級の山々に占められ,大台ヶ原山に源を発する宮川がV字谷を刻んで中央を北東流する。宮川の河岸段丘には大井遺跡や神滝(こうたき)遺跡など,縄文時代の遺跡がある。鎌倉時代,当地の江馬(えま)山は伊勢神宮の杣山(そまやま)とされている。戦国時代には北畠氏の被官茂原氏や荻原氏らの城砦があった。江戸時代は紀州藩領であった。
