Otono - Otono

Japanese:
Otono - Otono
〘Noun〙[一] "O" is an honorific title. "Tono" means a noble or magnificent building. ① A beautiful name for a palace. ※Nihon Shoki (720), New Year, 1st year of the Nintoku era ( Maeda Honkun ) "In other words, the palace fence and the rooms were not painted ." ② Specifically refers to the main hall and sleeping quarters of the palace. ※Kojiki (712), Part 2 "A bell was hung on the door of the main hall , and whenever he wished to summon the old woman, he would ring it." ③ An aristocrat's mansion or living quarters. ※Genji (c. 1001-14) Suetsumuhana "This evening, he left the Imperial Palace without stopping at the Great Palace or Nijo Palace." [2] Used as an honorific for someone. ① An honorific for a minister. ※Makura (end of 10th century) 275 "When the heir of the Shoku (feudal lord) was living on the west side, the new Middle Captain of the Imperial Court was on night duty and was asking something." ② ("O" is used in contrast to "waka" to refer to an older person) An honorific for an older noble. When referring to the heir, it can refer to the head of the family, and when referring to the head of the family, it can refer to his father. ⇔Young lord. ※Taiheiki (late 14th century) 10 " Ofuto is still in Kasai Valley. When he caught a glimpse of the nobles, he asked to be taken in and said he had come to greet them." [Etymology] "Ofuto" is older than "dono" and is considered to have greater influence. In particular, in the Kuno Diaries , the relationship is quite clear: "dono" refers to nobles who were in the position of regent, while the previous nobles who had served as regent are called "Ofuto."

Ooi - dono ohi... [Oden]
