Abbreviation Com. A small constellation between Leo and Bootes. It is said that the cut hair of Berenice, Queen of Egypt, was offered to the altar to pray for the victory of her husband in the battle against Assyria. It was traditionally part of Virgo, but in 1602, T. Brahe established it as an independent constellation. There is a large galaxy cluster in this constellation, known as the Coma Cluster. There are about 2,000 galaxies up to magnitude 15.5, with a diameter of 6° and a distance of about 20 million light years. Its approximate position is 12h40m right ascension and +23° declination.

略号Com。しし座とうしかい座との間にある小星座。エジプト王妃ベレニケがアッシリアと戦う夫の勝利を祈るために神前にささげた切髪であるという。従来はおとめ座に属していたが，1602年T.ブラーエにより独立の星座としてとり上げられた。この星座には大銀河団があって，かみのけ座銀河団として知られている。15.5等までの銀河の数は約2000個，直径は6゜で約2000万光年，距離は2億光年である。概略位置は赤経12h40m，赤緯＋23゜。
