Osaka Bank
A regional bank. Founded in 1950 as Osaka Real Estate Bank. In 1982, the bank changed its name to Osaka Bank. Based in Osaka, the bank focuses on small and medium-sized businesses, and emphasizes its regional character. In response to changes in the business environment, the bank expanded its international division, securities business, and electronic banking. In 1987 and 1989, it opened representative offices in New York and Hong Kong, respectively. In April 2000, the bank merged with Kinki Bank, the second largest regional bank, and was renamed Kinki Osaka Bank. It became part of the Daiwa Bank Group, and became the largest regional bank in the Kansai region. Its capital amount was 1,485,089 million yen, with 76% fixed deposits, 15% ordinary deposits, 4% current deposits, 1% notices, and 4% other. Its current income was 53,197 million yen (consolidated), its capital was 39,096 million yen, its number of employees was 1,402, and its number of branches in Japan was 180 (as of 2000).
