Osaka Institute of Technology

Japanese: 大阪工業大学 - おおさかこうぎょうだいがく

A private university. Its parent was the Kansai Technical College, founded in 1922, and its predecessor was the Kansai Higher Technical School, founded in 1940. It was established as Setsunan Institute of Technology in 1949, and renamed Osaka Institute of Technology in October of the same year. In 1950, it opened a junior college. The Faculty of Engineering has six engineering departments - Urban Design, Environment, Electronics and Information Communication, Electrical and Electronic Systems, Biomedical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering - as well as the Department of Architecture, Department of Applied Chemistry, Department of Spatial Design, and Department of Technology Management. In 1996, it opened the Faculty of Information Science, and in 2003, the Faculty of Intellectual Property. In 1965, it opened the Graduate School of Engineering. Its headquarters are located in Asahi-ku, Osaka.

私立大学。 1922年創立の関西工学専修学校を母体に，1940年に創立された関西高等工業学校が前身。 1949年摂南工業大学として発足，同年 10月に大阪工業大学に改称。 1950年に短期大学部を設置。工学部に都市デザイン，環境，電子情報通信，電気電子システム，生体医，機械の6工学科と建築学科，応用化学科，空間デザイン学科，技術マネジメント学科があり，1996年情報科学部，2003年知的財産学部を増設。 1965年大学院工学研究科を開設。本部所在地は大阪市旭区。
