Shichirimihama

Japanese:
Shichirimihama

This coast stretches for about 20 kilometers from Kinomoto in Kumano City in southern Mie Prefecture to the mouth of the Kumano River. It is the only monotonous raised coastline on the Kumano Nada Sea, which is known for its ria coastlines. It is covered with patterned pebbles such as black silicate rock (Nachi black) and granite mottled rock, and the most beautiful ones are sold as Mihama pebbles. Swimming is prohibited due to rough waves, but beach seine fishing is practiced. The pine forest that stretches in a straight line along the beach was transplanted from Hamamatsu by Mizuno Shigenaka, the first lord of Shingu Castle. It is part of Yoshino-Kumano National Park.
