...They hatch in about a month, after which the eggshells fall off in a single unit and the males become free. The D. major is a large species with a body length of about 25 mm, known from the Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka areas, and also found on Jeju Island and mainland Korea. The D. rusticus is smaller than the D. major, has only one tarsus segment on its front legs, and has no membranous part on its hemitrichus (forewings), so it can be distinguished from the above.
