...A perennial plant of the lily family that grows on the forest floor in mountainous areas and produces large white flowers in July and August (illustration). Ubayuri var. cordatum is distributed in southwestern Japan, and Oubayuri var. glehnii (Fr.Schm.) Hara is distributed in northeastern Japan. The genus Ubayuri consists of several species and is endemic to East Asia and the Himalayas, and is closely related to the genus Lilium.
