For example, the main boundaries are the rooms of the gods, storerooms, toilets, eaves, gates, shrines, temples, crossroads, bridges, mountain passes, and village boundaries. These boundaries were considered not only to be physical and social boundaries, but also to the other world where gods and monsters live, so there is a strong tendency for monsters to appear in these boundary areas. The same is true for the times when they appear, as monsters are said to enter and leave this world at dusk and dawn, the time between day and night, called ``Hour of the Demon.'' The appearances and personalities of each monster are very diverse, but generally speaking, the shapes of monsters are created by transforming real-life humans, animals, and objects into strange shapes, by combining and transforming these objects, or by using the shapes of existing monsters.
