Gonzaga, L. (English spelling) GonzagaL

...In English, it is called baion. Originally a folk song, it was made popular as dance music by the accordionist Luiz Gonzaga (1912- ), who was born in Pernambuco, after 1945. In the 1950s, it became popular worldwide, and in 1952, the American Percy Faith Orchestra recorded the baion rhythm "Delicado" (composed by Brazilian composer Waljir Azevedo), which became a hit. In addition, the Brazilian film "O Cangaceiro", which used a folk song from northeastern Brazil arranged to baion as its theme song, won the Music Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1953.
