A former town in Kani County in southern Gifu Prefecture. Located at the mouth of the Kiso River valley, it flourished as a small castle town, a market town, and a river port on the Kiso River. In recent years, it has become a commuter town for the Chubu region. Incorporated into Kani City in May 2005. 2.61 km2 . 1,727 people (2003).
