...A type of frog that secretes a strong poison from its skin. It is mainly found in the Dendrobatidae family, but is also found in other families. The Dendrobatidae family is called arrow-poison frogs because Indians collect the poison from their skin and use it to make poison arrows. There are 159 species of poison dart frogs that live in the tropical regions of Central and South America (illustration). They are small, with a body length of 2.5 to 4 cm, and all have beautiful colors and patterns.
