However, from the end of the century to the beginning of the 20th century, the Madrid School was active with I. Zuloaga and J. G. Solana, who followed in the footsteps of Goya, and the Barcelona School, which advocated Modernism and paid attention to the new trends in Paris, with Ramón Casas (1866-1932) and Isidro Nonell (1873-1911), among others. Picasso was born in Malaga, a port city in southern Spain, 53 years after Goya's death.
