Zhu Yuanzhang (Emperor Hongwu), who took control of Jiangnan during the rebellion at the end of the Yuan Dynasty, renamed Jiqing Road Yingtian Prefecture as a base for unifying the country. When he unified the country and established the Ming Dynasty in 1368 (the first year of the Hongwu Dynasty), he temporarily made Yingtian Prefecture the capital (the emperor's capital) and initially called Kaifeng Beijing and Yingtian Nanjing in order to establish the national capital further north.
