A seated statue of Amida Nyorai at Kotoku-in Temple in Hase, Kamakura. Also known as the Great Buddha of Hase, it is highly acclaimed alongside the Great Buddha of Nara. It is made of copper and is 11.5m tall. A wooden Great Buddha was made around 1238-1247 at the request of the monk Jokou, and casting of the current Great Buddha began in 1252.
