Oishigami Peak

Japanese: 生石ヶ峰 - おいしがみね

The main peak of the Nagamine Mountains in the northwestern Kii Mountains in northern Wakayama Prefecture. It is 870 meters above sea level. It is located on the border between Kimino Town and Arida-gawa Town. At the top of the Iwaishi Plateau, which is an uplifted peneplain, there is a capstone with a legend related to Kukai, and a huge quartz phyllite rock called Oshiage-iwa. There is Iwaishi Shrine, which enshrines Oishi (big rock), the source of the place name Iwaishi. It belongs to Iwaishi Plateau Prefectural Natural Park.

和歌山県北部，紀伊山地北西部の長峰山脈の主峰。標高 870m。紀美野町と有田川町との境に位置。隆起準平原をなす生石高原の頂部で，空海ゆかりの伝説がある笠石や，押し上げ岩と呼ばれる石英千枚岩の巨岩がある。生石の地名のもとになった大石 (大岩) を祭神とする生石神社がある。生石高原県立自然公園に属する。
