A diversified American company focused on chemical products. Founded in 1883 by John Bean as Bean Spray Pump. Renamed John Bean Manufacturing in 1928, it merged with Anderson Burn-Glover and Sprague Sells to list on the San Francisco Stock Exchange, renamed itself Food Machinery in 1929, Food Machinery & Chemical in 1948, and changed its name to its current one in 1961. During this time, it absorbed related companies and expanded into chemical products, packaging materials, and defense-related sectors. It also actively engaged in overseas activities. In 1992, it acquired the fire suppression and water treatment chemicals division of Swiss chemical company Ciba-Geigy. In 2001, it spun off its machinery business to establish FMC Technologies.

アメリカ合衆国の化学製品を中心とする多角経営企業。1883年，ジョン・ビーンがビーン・スプレー・ポンプとして創業。1928年ジョン・ビーン・マニュファクチュアリングと改称後，アンダーソン・バーングローバーとスプレイグ・セルズの 2社を合併してサンフランシスコ証券取引所に上場，1929年フード・マシナリー，1948年フード・マシナリー・アンド・ケミカルと改称，1961年現社名に変更。この間，関連企業を吸収するとともに化学製品，包装材，防衛関連部門へ進出。海外活動も積極的に展開した。1992年スイスの化学会社チバガイギーの火災抑制剤・水処理薬品部門を買収。2001年，機械事業をスピンオフし，FMCテクノロジーズを設立した。
