Born: August 25, 1678 in Paris Died in 1755. Paris. French sculptor, metalworker, and engraver. Many of his sculptures are decorative busts with plating (example: Baron de Besembal). He excelled in decorative design, and was active in the fields of interior decoration, making chandeliers, clocks, and decorative fittings for furniture. He exemplifies the magnificent French Rococo style. He was the fifth son of Italian sculptor Philippe Caffieri (1634-1716), who moved to Paris in 1660 and worked for Le Brun.
