Caffièri, Jacques
Born: August 25, 1678 in Paris
Died in 1755. Paris. French sculptor, metalworker, and engraver. Many of his sculptures are decorative busts with plating (example: Baron de Besembal). He excelled in decorative design, and was active in the fields of interior decoration, making chandeliers, clocks, and decorative fittings for furniture. He exemplifies the magnificent French Rococo style. He was the fifth son of Italian sculptor Philippe Caffieri (1634-1716), who moved to Paris in 1660 and worked for Le Brun. His other brothers and children (JJ Caffieri) were also sculptors or craftsmen.

[Died] June 21, 1792. A French sculptor, metalworker, and engraver from Paris. Son of J. Caffieri. He won the Prix de Rome in 1748 and became an Academician in 1759. He exhibited at the Salon from 1757 to 1789. His style was rococo, and he produced many busts, including "Portrait of Rameau" and "Portrait of the Prince de Condé."
