Edobashi Hirokoji

...Ryogoku Hirokoji, located at the west end of Ryogoku Bridge, where people gather, is especially lively during the summer when fireworks are displayed. Edo Meisho Zue (Edo Meisho Zue) (early 19th century) and other works depict rows of theaters, acrobatics, and clay archery huts, along with alcove stalls. Edobashi Hirokoji, located at the south end of Edobashi, had more than 100 alcove stalls, most of which were small goods stores, as well as an archery hut and a water teahouse. Mandarin orange wholesalers were allowed to do business from winter to spring, and pine decoration merchants were allowed to do business at the end of the year. …人々の集まりやすい両国橋西詰にあった両国広小路は，花火の行われる夏の納涼では特ににぎわい，《江戸名所図会》(19世紀初め)などには床みせとともに芝居，軽業，土弓の小屋が建ち並ぶようすが描かれている。江戸橋南詰の江戸橋広小路には小間物商いが大部分である100軒余りの床みせのほかに，楊弓場，水茶屋などがあり，冬から春にはミカン問屋，年末には松飾商人も商売を許されていた。この一画には牛車置場があり，また房州への船便の出る木更津河岸（きさらづがし）も設けられるなど，まさに交通の要所として人々が集まる盛場であった。…
