Ezoharuzemi - Ezoharuzemi

An insect belonging to the order Hemiptera and family Cicadidae. Found throughout Japan, Sakhalin, and the southern Kuril Islands. It is a medium-sized cicada with a body length of 38-43 mm from the wing tip. Most of the body is yellowish brown, with a greenish head and thorax and black markings. The wings are transparent except for the black-brown wing veins. In Hokkaido and the Tohoku region, they live from plains to mountains, but in other regions they are often found in beech and Mizunara forests at altitudes of 700-1500 meters. Adults appear from late May to July, and their call can be heard as "myokin, myokin, kekekeke...".

昆虫綱半翅目(はんしもく)セミ科に属する昆虫。日本全土、樺太(からふと)（サハリン）、南千島に分布。体長は翅端(したん)まで38～43ミリメートルの中形のセミである。体は大部分が黄褐色で、頭部と胸部は緑色を帯び、黒色の斑紋(はんもん)がある。はねは黒褐色の翅脈を除いて透明である。北海道や東北地方では平地から山地に生息するが、そのほかの地方では、標高700～1500メートルのブナ林やミズナラ林に多い。成虫は5月下旬から7月にかけて出現し、鳴き声は、ミョーキン、ミョーキン、ケケケケ……と聞こえる。
