...The Iwato-yuri L. maculatum Thunb. (illustration) is also called the Sukasi-yuri because the base of the tepals is thin, allowing the flower to be seen through. It grows naturally near the coast from central Honshu to the north, but a variant called the Ezo-sukasi-yuri var. dauricum (Ker-Gawl.) Ohwi is distributed in Hokkaido.
