Isooizu (English name) Pontodrilus matsushimensis

Japanese: イソミミズ（英語表記）Pontodrilus matsushimensis

A marine earthworm in the phylum Annelida, class Oligochaeta, order Neooligachae, family Pheraeidae. It is a marine earthworm with a clamping apparatus on the ventral surface. It is 10cm long, about 2mm wide, and has about 100 segments. The annulus is located on the 13th to 17th segments, and the clamping apparatus is located on the 18th segment. The oviposition hole is on the 14th segment, and the male pore is on the 18th segment. The spermathecae are located on the 11th and 12th segments. It lives in the gravel beneath semi-rotten seaweed that has washed up on the shore. It is widely distributed from Honshu southwards.
