...The editor, Kumajiro Uehara, was an Ezo interpreter at the Matsumae Magistrate's Office, and also served as a Russian interpreter during the Golovnin internment incident in 1811-13. The book is also known as Moshiogusa, and was later expanded by Uehara and published as Ezogoshu (manuscript, completed around 1824). Mogami Tokunai helped publish Moshiogusa, who himself learned the Ainu language, and the Leiden University Library in the Netherlands has a copy of Yezogasima Kotoba (Ezo Island Language), co-edited by Tokunai and Siebold. *Some of the terminology explanations that refer to "Ezogoshu" are listed below.
