Youxian (English spelling)

Japanese: 遊仙 - ゆうせん（英語表記）yóu xiān

In China, it refers to traveling to the world of immortals. Travels to the heavenly realm of the gods were first taken up as a suitable subject for cifu literature. The "Journey to the Heavenly Realm" in the Chuci is a grand and fantastical work in which the soul of a poet, trapped in anguish, flies to the heavenly world, visiting the gods and pleading his sorrows, and is the prototype of literature on the theme of travel to immortals. During the Han dynasty, when cifu was at its most popular, representative works include Sima Xiangru's "Da Da Fu" and Zhang Heng's "Si Xuan Fu," and are characterized by their depictions of the heavenly world filled with magnificent verses.

中国で，神仙世界を遊歴することをいう。天上の神界への遊歴はまず辞賦文学のかっこうの題材として取り上げられた。《楚辞》遠遊は，憂悶に閉ざされた詩人の魂が天上世界に飛翔し，神々のもとを歴訪してその苦衷を訴えるという雄大かつ幻想的な作品として，遊仙をテーマとする文学の原型をなす。辞賦が最も盛行した漢代では，司馬相如の〈大人賦〉や張衡の〈思玄賦〉などが代表的作品で，壮麗な辞句を連ねた天上世界の描写を特徴とする。
