A state within the Mongol Empire established by Ogedei on the basis of his fiefdom. 1224 or 1218-1310. As a result of the fiefdom of Genghis Khan's sons, Ogedei came to rule the area south of the Tarbagatai Mountains, basin of the Ymir River flowing into Lake Ala-Kul, and the surrounding steppes. He built a city called Ymir on the banks of the river and made it the capital of the khanate. After Ogedei and his son Guyuk became khans of the empire in succession, Mongke of the Turui family seized power, executed many members of the Ogedei family for treason, confiscated their armies, and gave some of them fiefdoms within the Ogedei family's territory and allowed them to keep their own armies.
