Aluminum Bronze - Aluminum Seido

Aluminum Bronze - Aluminum Seido

A Cu-Al alloy with copper as the main component and 15% or less by mass of aluminum. Available for wrought materials and castings. Easier to forge and roll than Cu-Sn alloy, harder, with a smaller coefficient of friction and higher corrosion resistance. Suitable for gears, bolts, nuts, bushings, bearings, etc. It is forged or rolled at high temperatures of 600-800 °C and finished at room temperature. If cast from this alloy is left as cast, it will undergo self-annealing and will have very coarse crystal grains. To prevent this phenomenon, the casting should be removed from the mold at high temperatures and quenched with water from 570 °C or above, but this method is difficult for very thick pieces, so a third element of 1-6% by mass of iron, 0.5-2% by mass of manganese, or 1-5% by mass of nickel is added. Depending on the aluminum content, some are highly workable and others are suitable for casting, so it has a wide range of uses. Castings include propellers, shaft sleeves, pump impellers, seawater valves, etc., and propellers weighing over 40 tons are also manufactured for 200,000-ton tankers. [See other terms] Bronze
