Mount Kano

This mountain is located in the southern part of Chiba Prefecture, on the border between Kimitsu City and Futtsu City, on the Boso Hills. It is low at 379 meters above sea level, but erosion has caused it to slope steeply in the southeast, forming the scenic Kujukutani Valleys. On the western side of the mountainside spreads the national and prefectural forests of Mt. Kinada, where magnificent cedar and cypress trees have been planted. Near the summit is Jinyaji Temple, said to have been founded by Prince Shotoku, and nearby the Mother Farm tourist ranch, golf course, and villa area have been developed, making it a tourist and recreational hub for Minami Boso. It is included in Minami Boso Quasi-National Park. It is a 30-minute bus ride from Sanukicho Station on the JR Uchibo Line.

千葉県南部、君津市と富津市(ふっつし)との境、房総(ぼうそう)丘陵上にある山。標高379メートルで低いが、南東部では侵食が進んで急傾斜をなし、九十九谷(くじゅうくたに)の景勝地を形成する。山腹西側には鬼泪(きなだ)山の国有林、県有林が広がり、スギやヒノキのみごとな造林がみられる。山頂付近に聖徳太子創建と伝える神野寺(じんやじ)があり、近くに観光牧場のマザー牧場やゴルフ場、別荘地が開発され、南房総の観光レクリエーション拠点をなす。南房総国定公園に含まれる。JR内房線佐貫(さぬき)町駅からバス30分。
