Ecran Mountain Wall - Ecran Sanpeki

The eastern part of the region is made up of the Briançonnais, Queyras and Ambrunay mountains, which form a series of steep mountains of schist. The central crystalline zone to the west of these is made up of the Belledonne massif and the Oisin basin, which is the highest part of the Dauphiné region, and includes the Meige massif (3,987 m) and the Ecrins massif (4,102 m). The Pre-Alps and Alps-Sillon, which originate from the Drach and Isère rivers, occupy the western and southern parts of the region.
