Taku Egawa

Japanese: 江川卓 - えがわすぐる

1955－ A professional baseball player in the late Showa period.
Born May 25, 1955. He played at Koshien as a fastball pitcher for Sakushin Gakuin High School. At Hosei University, he won 42 games, the second-highest record in the history of the Tokyo Big Six University Baseball League. In 1978, he took advantage of the "blank day" of the draft system to join the Giants, which caused problems. He played as the Giants' ace, winning 20 games in 1981, but injured his shoulder and retired in 1982. He played for nine years, with a total of 135 wins and 72 losses, with an ERA of 3.02. He later became a baseball commentator and TV personality. He was born in Tochigi Prefecture.

Taku Egawa

1927－2001 A Russian literature scholar from the late Showa to Heisei eras.
Born January 24, 1927. Son of Tetsuya Baba. Became a professor at the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1958 and at Chukyo University in 1985. Self-taught Russian, he was an early introducer of postwar Soviet literature. Known for his translations of Dostoevsky, Pasternak, and others, he won the Yomiuri Literature Prize in 1986 for "Solving the Mystery of 'Crime and Punishment'". Died July 4, 2001. Age 74. Born in Tokyo. Graduated from the University of Tokyo. Real name was Hiroshi Baba.

昭和30年5月25日生まれ。作新学院高の剛速球投手として甲子園で活躍。法大で東京六大学野球歴代2位の42勝。昭和53年ドラフト制の「空白の1日」をついて巨人に入団し,問題となる。56年20勝するなど巨人のエースとして活躍したが,肩をこわし,62年引退。実働9年,通算135勝72敗,防御率3.02。のち野球解説者,タレント。栃木県出身。

江川卓えがわ-たく

1927－2001　昭和後期-平成時代のロシア文学者。
昭和2年1月24日生まれ。馬場哲哉(てつや)の子。昭和33年東京工業大教授,60年中京大教授。独学でロシア語をおさめ,戦後のソビエト文学の動向をはやくから紹介する。ドストエフスキー,パステルナークなどの翻訳で知られ,61年「謎とき「罪と罰」」で読売文学賞。平成13年7月4日死去。74歳。東京出身。東大卒。本名は馬場宏。
