Born May 25, 1955. He played at Koshien as a fastball pitcher for Sakushin Gakuin High School. At Hosei University, he won 42 games, the second-highest record in the history of the Tokyo Big Six University Baseball League. In 1978, he took advantage of the "blank day" of the draft system to join the Giants, which caused problems. He played as the Giants' ace, winning 20 games in 1981, but injured his shoulder and retired in 1982. He played for nine years, with a total of 135 wins and 72 losses, with an ERA of 3.02.
