The Eustachian tube is an organ in the middle ear of higher vertebrates . It is an empty passageway that opens from the tympanic cavity to the oral cavity or pharynx, and equalizes the air pressure inside the tympanic cavity with the air pressure outside, facilitating the vibration of the tympanic membrane.
