Public Occurrences, Both Foreign and Domestic

Japanese: パブリック・オカレンシズ(英語表記)Publick Occurrences,Both Forreign and Domestick
Public Occurrences, Both Foreign and Domestic
The first newspaper published in America. It was published in Boston on September 25, 1690. It had four pages, the last of which was left blank so that subscribers could use it as a newsletter to send to their local areas. The publisher was Benjamin Harris, who had been a Whig journalist in England but had emigrated to America after a literary scandal and opened a coffee shop and bookstore in Boston. Although the newspaper was modern in both format and content, it contained scandalous articles about the French king that were anathema to the authorities, and it was banned after just one issue.
