1352‐1409 A Confucian scholar and official in the Goryeo and Yi dynasties of Korea. His first name was Jin. His pen names were Gawon and Sasuk. His pen name was Yangchon. He was from Andong. He was a disciple of Yi Saek and studied Neo-Confucianism, passing his literary studies at the age of 18 and serving as the Chief Administrator of Sungkyunkwan, but he was involved in political strife and exiled at the end of the Goryeo dynasty. After the founding of the Yi dynasty, he served as a councilor in Uijeongbu and other positions, and worked to establish royal authority by advocating the abolition of private armies, as well as contributing to improving relations with Ming. He excelled in literature and classical studies, and his works include Yangchonshu, Illustrated Guide to Entrance, and A Perspective of the Book of Rites. His posthumous name was Munchung.
