An old town in Masuda County, central Gifu Prefecture. Most of it is in the Hida Highlands, with the main settlement at the confluence of the south-flowing Maze River and Masuda River. It was a key location on the Hida Highway, which marked the entrance to Hida from Mino. The Takayama Main Line runs through the town, and it produces timber, tea, rice, and other products. It is home to Nakayama Shichiri. In March 2004, it merged with Hagiwara Town, Kosaka Town, Gero Town, and Maze Village in Masuda County to form Gero City. 167.84 km2 . 7,727 people (2003).

Kanayama [town]

A town in Onuma County, western Fukushima Prefecture. Most of the town area is mountainous, with settlements scattered in the valley of the midstream Tadami River, through which the Tadami Line runs. The main settlement is Kawaguchi. The town practices agriculture and forestry. There is a caldera lake called Numazawa Lake, whose water is used to generate electricity. The Kanayamadani hot spring resort is located along the Tadami River and Nojiri River. 293.92 km2 . 2,462 people (2010).

Kanayama [town]

A town in Mogami District, northern Yamagata Prefecture. It has extensive forests and many beautiful cedar forests. Rice farming, livestock farming, and forestry are thriving. The main settlement along National Route 13 once flourished as a post town on the Ushu Kaido road, and a regular market was also held there. The town suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 161.67 km2 . 6,365 people (2010).

福島県西部,大沼郡の町。町域のほとんどが山地で,只見川中流の河谷に集落が点在,只見線が通じる。中心集落は川口。農林業を営む。カルデラ湖の沼沢湖があり,湖水は発電に利用。只見川,野尻川沿いに金山谷温泉郷がある。293.92km2。2462人(2010)。

金山[町]【かねやま】

山形県北部,最上郡の町。山林が広く,杉の美林が多い。米作,畜産,林業などが盛ん。国道13号線に沿う主集落はかつては羽州街道の宿町として栄え,定期市も開かれていた。東日本大震災で,町内において被害が発生。161.67km2。6365人(2010)。
