Kanayama people

Japanese: 金山衆 - かなやましゅう

From the Sengoku period to the beginning of the Edo period, they were a group of prospectors who worked in the gold mining business, each with their own digging site, and were also local samurai groups. Particularly famous are the Kurokawa Gold Mine Group, the Nakayama Gold Mine Ten-Man Group, the Fuji Gold Mine Twenty-Two-Man Group, and the Shinshu Gold Mine Group, all of which were under the control of the Sengoku daimyo Takeda clan of Kai. Of these, the Kurokawa Gold Mine Group, who mined gold from the Kurokawa Gold Mine, consisted of the Hoshina, Tanabe, Ashizawa, Furuya, Nakamura, Tagusagawa, Ikeda, Hosaka, and Yoda clans, and lived in the Kurihara area of Yamanashi County, with strong ties of both geographical and blood ties.

戦国時代から江戸時代の初めにかけて，それぞれの掘り場を持ちながら採金業をしていた山師の集団で，在地武士団でもあった。とくに戦国大名甲斐武田氏の支配下にあった黒川金山衆，中山金山十人衆，富士金山二十二人衆，信州金山衆等が有名である。このうち黒川金山からの採金にあたっていた黒川金山衆は，保科，田辺，蘆沢，古屋，中村，田草川，池田，保坂，依田等の各氏よりなり，山梨郡栗原筋に住んでおり，地縁的，血縁的なつながりが強かった。
